Elandra Yachts revamps new Elandra 53

Elandra Yachts has revamped the acclaimed Elandra 53 with a new layout.

A revised layout sees Elandra Yachts’ first model, the Elandra 53, now available with three-cabin, two-bathroom accommodation, including a full-beam master suite and lavish ensuite with private WC and shower.

When we spoke to Elandra Yachts managing director Luke Derman back in 2012, we heard about plans to invest heavily in research and development to create an exciting range of off-shore powerboats.

Trade-a-Boat reviewed the first Elandra 53 late in 2014 and noted the quality of the build and attention to detail were among the best we have seen. At that time, we also heard about a smaller boat, the 49, that was recently confirmed for production.

The design embraces a single-level entertainment concept around an impressive 5.25m beam, from the spacious cockpit through glass bi-fold doors to a convertible saloon lounge/dinette and galley.

The updated Elandra 53 maintains the lightweight yet incredibly strong hull composed of 100 per cent hand-laid quadraxial E-Glass reinforced with Kevlar and using a glass-to-resin ratio of around 50:50. As before – and as proven in testing – the boat is designed for stability in all sea conditions, with exceptional performance up to 35kts.

Elandra’s focus on innovative hull design and hydrodynamic lift characteristics combine to offer the best cruising fuel efficiency of any comparably sized vessel in her class.

Like the original Elandra 53, above the large hydraulic-lift swim platform, the garage is flanked by twin cavernous lazarette bays and features a sophisticated launch and retrieval system that accommodates a 3m jet tender.

The always impressive CZone technology controls electrical systems, allowing the use of app-based mobile control of lighting, power monitoring and more.

Power is provided by a pair of MAN R6-800 six-cylinder turbo marine diesel engines with common-rail fuel injection. The engines are rated for 588kW (800hp) and 2,700Nm. When testing in 2014, we experienced a useable range in excess of 266Nm at a fast cruise of 29.6kt and maintaining a 10 per cent fuel reserve, so we’d expect to hear the same from this new model.

Available immediately through Sanctuary Cove agent Leigh-Smith Yachts, this latest Elandra 53 is sure to impress in its champagne gold hull.
