The Dickey Semifly 32 is — like all Dickey Boats — a highly personalised, custom-design boat. “It’s one of my favourite models,” says Dickey Boats managing director, Jason Dickey. “It’s an extremely well-balanced boat. The sleeping, the cooking, the lounging, the fishing, the entertaining — everything is extremely well balanced.

DICKEY SPORTSFISHER

This Dickey Semifly 32 was built with serious sportsfishing in mind – simply find your “Spot X”, select either the gamefishing or bottom fishing CZone mode on the marine electronics, and a fully-armed cockpit will turn your fishing into an easygoing, enjoyable experience. Rear pillar-mounted rodholders are on hand for rigging lures, while electric reel outlets will make light work of those denizens of the deep.

The self-draining cockpit also features tackle boxes within thigh-height gunwales and each heavy-duty rodholder has been precisely positioned for laying an enticing lure pattern, while fold-down cleats promise a snag-free cockpit environment.

While delivering this Dickey Semifly 32, its 3kW through-hull CHIRP transducer was put to the test marking fish atop a pinnacle in 730m of water. A bait was dropped down and a large bluenose (blue eye trevella) was brought to the surface.

CUSTOM DESIGN

“Customisation always happens on our boats,” says Jason. “Customers are always involved at the beginning and everything is built to order. This boat is no exception. It’s got a customised livebait tank with tuna tubes integral to it.

Power comes from a D6-400 Volvo Penta, the first time that Diceky Boats has fitted one of these marine engines to this vessel. The bigger engine also necessitated a larger fuel tank of 700lt capacity.

“Basically, we tailor it to what the owner wants to use it for. It really does become their boat before it’s even built,” says Jason.
