Accounting for 60 percent of the Australian trailerboat market (as of 2006) and having been awarded the “Aluminium Boat of the Year” six times in the last eight years, it’s no exaggeration to say that Quintrex is a dominant player in aluminium boat construction.
The company’s Gold Coast factory is hailed as the most advanced aluminium boatbuilding facility in the world, housing sophisticated computer systems to control presses and plasma cutters.
In some 60 years of production, the Quintrex has introduced a range of innovation design features. One of the most far-reaching is the Millennium hull – a “concave-shaped” hull with a deep keel that offers a softer, quieter ride than you’d expect from an aluminium boat.
This hull is incorporated into the 460 Coast Runner (LOA 4.78m). One of Quintrex’s base models, it’s marketed as having “many large boat features in a medium-sized package”. It also features a new internal layout, flared bow and the Maxi 2 transom.
A key benefit of these features is plenty of interior space – offering generous room to move when fishing or storing gear. The design incorporates a lean-through deck for easy access to the anchor-well, two fold-down pedestal seats and deep side pockets for rods.
A car-like layout and dash nestles behind a three-piece, wraparound windscreen, and to gain maximum use of space, a 70-litre, fuel tank is built in under the cockpit floor.
