Trade-a-Boat NZ: the end of an era

We’re bidding a fond farewell to the Trade-a-Boat magazine as we concentrate our efforts on the website.

The New Zealand boat buying market has seen dramatic changes in consumer behaviour over the last four years. The internet, through websites and social platforms, has allowed boat buyers much more information at their fingertips across multiple digital platforms, at any time.

Trade-A-Boat NZ has been a boat buyer’s bible for 20 years, leading the market as a place to buy and sell boats across New Zealand. With the changing habits of consumers we have seen a dramatic shift to the online space. Trade-A-Boat NZ, like many other magazine titles, has seen circulation decline steadily over the last four years, as distribution outlets decreased due to the pressure of FMCG (fast moving consumer goods), products in these traditional outlets.

As we mapped this change, we geared Trade-A-Boat up to transform it into a digital platform where consumers could get all the best bits of the magazine, with even more offerings on a multi-platform digital site.

Tradeboat.co.nz boasts 40,000 plus visitors every month, searching New and Used boats for sale, videos reviews and industry news; and this traffic continues to climb with double digit growths, being consistent with the change in consumer habits.

The time has come to now to focus fully on the complete marine digital platform for boat buyers across New Zealand, and with that, issue 268 of Trade-A-Boat NZ on sale 14th July, will be the last published print issue.

So while we bid farewell to Trade-A-Boat NZ magazine print version, we remain committed to delivering New Zealand’s most comprehensive marine selling and buying guide. The website will continue to serve and grow, supplying reviews, news and new and used boats for sale for all New Zealand boaties.
