Fish City Albany announced as the official dealer of Osprey Boats

Fish City Albany recently teamed up with Osprey Boats to display and showcase their range of boats in the Upper North Island

Osprey Boats, located in Nelson, has been building industry-setting standard quality boats for more than 30 years. During this time, they have established themselves as a leading and trusted brand, especially in the commercial/water taxi market and, more so in recent years, the recreational and small boat market.

The driver for the boat design was the ever-changing conditions of the Able Tasman National Park and the growing local mussel farming industry. This design work and local knowledge led to the development of one of the softest riding, most stable boats on the market. They do lose a little internal beam dimension (being a pontoon design) but this was done deliberately, as they would not compromise on safety or performance, says Osprey Boats.

In saying that, they believe that their standard range of 35 different models means that they have a boat suitable for anyone’s needs or preferences. And if that doesn’t suit, then they also work closely with buyers who want a custom-made option.

All boats across the Osprey range are also built to the same survey standards that are required in the commercial sector. This means buyers would be purchasing a recreational boat built to commercial standards.

The Osprey range is renowned for its safety; the boats love the rough conditions and perform extremely well under load, says Osprey Boats.

This is due to the deep V hull design and the considerable amount of buoyancy gained by maintaining the D shape pontoon, which many believe Osprey leads the market in.

For instance, the Osprey 380 range has 70kg of buoyancy per metre of pontoon, the 420–495 range 88.8kg per metre, the 520–850 range 111kg per metre, and the 700–1000 wide-body range has a 150kg of buoyancy per metre. Additionally, all models from the 450 and longer have considerable additional inherent buoyancy, as the hull is also a sealed compartment, which results in these boats being one of the safest available on the domestic market, the manufacturer says.

Fish City Albany says they are pleased to be the link between the Upper North Island recreational fishing market and the safe, excellent, and extensive range offered by Osprey Boats. The packages on offer can include the ELERT self-retrieval trailer system, the full range of appropriate Mercury Outboards, and a full spectrum of electronic aids. These can be adjusted to suit particular customer preferences.
