The Fyran 440 is (according to the October 2016 Fyran website) New Zealand’s largest-selling alloy boat hulls – a tribute to its versatile, functional design and robust construction. Fyran has been making aluminium boats since as far back as 1953.

Lightweight and easily handled, the 4.4m boat offers seating for five and has a reputation for good seagoing abilities.

It’s popular across the full spectrum of users: skiers, divers and fishermen. With its alloy hull, it’s also regarded as a sensible choice for low-maintenance, trouble-free boating. Underfloor, foam flotation is installed as standard.

Fyran’s 440 package is equipped with a two-stroke, 40hp Yamaha outboard engine (recommended horsepower is 40-60), and delivered on a galvanised Hosking trailer. Standard features include twin pedestal (swivel) seats, rear bin seats, an acrylic, walk-through windscreen, an anchor bin, battery isolation switch, a bilge pump and navigation lights. Spare but serviceable.

The cockpit floor is finished in marine vinyl, and the boat comes equipped with a 20-litre fuel tank. With a towing weight of 660kg, the Fyran 440 is easily towed behind a standard sedan.

In addition to the standard features, the boat can be customised to suit specific requirements with an extensive range of factory, optional extras. Examples are a transom-mounted baitboard, boarding platform and ladder, and a canopy.
