Simrad marks its 80th year by looking ahead, not back, with the launch of its new flagship display, the NSO 4. Kiwi boaters can see it firsthand at the Auckland Boat Show, with local distribution through Advance Trident.

The Simrad NSO 4 is a ground up rethink of the modern helm, aimed squarely at larger launches and serious offshore fishing boats. At its core sits the new NEON operating system, designed to cut clutter and streamline access to key functions. Menus are simplified, tools sit closer to the surface, and a swipe reveals an activity bar for quick control.

Powered by a Qualcomm eight core processor, boot up and route calculations are noticeably faster. Displays come in 16, 22 and 24 inch formats, with SolarMAX IPS screens that remain clear in bright sun and through polarised lenses.

The NSO 4 integrates with Simrad sonar modules, HALO radar, Active Imaging and FishCast, powered by ROFFS. For offshore skippers, that combination puts navigation, fishfinding and boat systems onto one central screen.

International pricing starts at $6,499 USD. For Kiwi boaties who run beyond the harbour heads, this is serious helm technology worth inspecting.
