The 14th annual fishing competition will be held at the Whakatane Sportfishing Club on 6 and 7 April 2019
The annual Surtees Boats Fishing Competition is in its 14th year and anglers have a chance to win prizes worth more than $57,000.
This year will see a couple of changes: the Snapper category will move to ‘catch and release’—the snapper will be caught, measured, photographed, and released— and Tarakihi has been removed from the prize category due to the 83% decline seen around the east coast of New Zealand.
The 14th edition of the competition will take place at the Whakatane Sportfishing Club on 6 and 7 April 2019, and all entries before 15 March will go into a draw to receive an early bird prize and will be guaranteed t-shirt sizing. Participating venues at Whakatane will also be offering a 20% discount
Prizes to be won this year includes the chance of catching the $10,000 tagged snapper, along with prizes worth $10k from Garmin, rod and reel combos from Top Catch, and a raffle with prizes, one of them a day with Scott and Mig from Fishing and Adventure on the water. Proceeds of the raffle will go to Legasea.
